Two firefighters hurt while fighting large fire in Pulaski

Firefighters worked through the night to finally put out a massive fire that damaged five buildings and put nearly 40 people out their homes in downtown Pulaski. Officials say the first call on the fire came in around 11 p.m. Friday. The fire appears to have started at the Wood Lanes Bowling Alley.

The flames jumped quickly from rooftop to rooftop...It took more than two-million gallons of water to finally put out the blaze for good.

Trink Little, a woman who owns one of the buildings and spoke with FOX 11 News, watched as the flames leapt from the bowling alley onto her building. Her daughter and grandsons live in the building but weren't there when the fire started.

"Thank God my daughter and the boys aren't there," Little said.

"All their Christmas presents are up there, you know my furniture is up there, I've been living with my dad since my mom died and half of my clothes are still there.  Their baby pictures ... it's just hard.  That building has been in our family since 1958, and now it's gone."

More than 180 firefighters from 23 departments were brought in. Two firefighters were treated for minor injuries.

Those who have been displaced by the fire and firefighters on the scene are being assisted by the American Red Cross.

Investigators are now working to determine the exact cause of the fire.

The demand for water to fight the fire was so great, it overwhelmed the village's supply. Water from nearby ponds had to be brought in.

State investigators are being brought in not because the cause is suspicious... but because of the large scope of the damage.
