Business News: Aurora Sinai Medical Center facing $50 million loss

MILWAUKEE -- Aurora Sinai Medical Center says it is facing a $50 million loss over the next couple of years, and hospital officials say they're weighing their options.

A decision regarding the hospital's future is expected to be made by the end of next year. A spokesman says the hospital system has not ruled out closing the facility on 12th and State, but says that would be a last resort.

The spokesman says the hospital might limit services instead of closing down.

If Aurora Sinai does close, the only other hospital serving central city patients would be Wheaton's St. Joseph Hospital on 50th and Burleigh.

St. Michael Hospital, which also served the central city on 24th and Villard, closed in 2006.
