112 City of Milwaukee salt trucks cover roads Friday

MILWAUKEE -- Friday morning, the city of Milwaukee's Department of Public Works had 112 pieces of equipment spreading salt on city streets in anticipation of the day's snowfall.

Streets and Sanitation Director, Wanda Booker, reminds drivers to give snow-clearing crews extra room to work. Booker says the salt/calcium chloride mixture applied to street surfaces should be effective even with temperatures in the single-digits. Booker says additional pieces of equipment will be sent out later in the day. The number of crews working overnight will be determined by the amount of snowfall the city receives.

Booker explains, after the evening rush hour, crews will be able to do their best work.

Residents are reminded parking regulations can vary from street to street, so be certain to check the signs when you are parking.
