Family finally has closure after fugitive captured

MILWAUKEE -- Month after month, the man accused of killing a father of three outside a downtown bar, escaped the reach of law enforcement, but Monday, U.S. Marshals announced the fugitive, Reggie Boston turned himself in.

Law enforcement said back in 2010 it was likely Boston left hte state. Monday, he surfaced in Indiana. The man once described as armed and dangerous is now described as in custody.

Voices rang out at a vigil last year in anguish, because of gun shots that took the life of Eddie Franklin. Police say the man who pulled the trigger May 15th of 2010 was Reggie Boston, and for about 20 months, a family looked for closure as law enforcement searched for the accused killer.

Monday, that search finally ended. Franklin's mother, Terri Cloyd, says her son's killer surrendered to police. "I'm just glad it's over with. I'm glad. These are tears of joy," Cloyd said.

Boston's capture was a comforting break in this case for some, but not Franklin's sister. "It ain't going to bring (Eddie) back, but I'm glad he's there, and he's caught," Franklin's sister, Tiffany Cloyd said.

U.S. Marshals say following an argument outside the now closed bar, Martini Mike's, Boston fired eight shots, then fled the scene. Boston was featured twice on Wisconsin's Most Wanted, and recently on America's Most Wanted. The pressure from investigators and media exposure apparently boiled over, and Boston turned himself in to the Richmond, Indiana Police Department.

Franklin's family calls it a step towards justice and closure. "I'm waiting for the first court appearance because I'm going to be there," Cloyd said Monday.

Franklin had two girls and a boy, ages four to seven years old. Family members are now caring for his children.

U.S. Marshals say Boston is now awaiting extradition back to Milwaukee County.
