Northridge Mall owner has stopped paying mortgage

MILWAUKEE -- There is a new twist in the long-running saga of what to do with Northridge Mall. The Chinese investor that owns the former Northridge Mall has stopped paying the mortgage.

The Business Journal reports that even though the payments have stopped coming in, the owner hopes to redevelop the high-profile property that has sat vacant since 2003.

A Pick 'N Save and Menards have gone up west of the mall near 76th and Brown Deer, but the remaining 800,000 square foot space hasn't seen any growth.

A spokesman for the property tells the Business Journal the owner will visit Milwaukee this spring, and hopes to talk with Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett about redevelopment plans.
