Wave falls to Sharx, losing three consecutive games

MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Wave came out on the losing side of a seesaw game which saw eight lead changes with the Sharx coming out on top at 14-13. The Wave has now lost three consecutive games as head to Syracuse to play on Wednesday.

The Wave opened the scoring as Fabinho struck from 3-point range off an assist by Giuliano Oliviero. The Sharx capitalized on a penalty kick after the Wave was called for a handball as Matt Clare netted the goal. Brandon Massie gave the Sharx their first lead of the game at 4-3. The Wave rallied back as Jonathan Greenfield scored the only goal in the second quarter on a breakaway regaining the lead for the Wave at 5-4.

The seesaw game continued in the second half. The Sharx’s Clare quickly scored his second goal in the game giving them a 6-5 goal. The Wave answered immediately as Greg Howes fired in a goal off a restart. The Sharx Gersen Dos Santos quickly put them back on top off the rebound of Clare’s shot. The Wave then retook the lead off a Marcio Leite goal making it 9-8. The Wave extended their lead off a restart goal from Hewerton to end the third quarter up 11-8. Cecil Lewis cut the Wave’s lead quickly after a breakaway goal. Ian Bennett increased the Wave’s lead back to three at 13-10. The Sharx fired back as Marcus Schmidt scored. With less than a minute left the Sharx took the lead a final time as Dos Santos scored his second goal of the day to win 14-13.

The Wave plays their final three regular season games on the road with the next game on Wednesday night in Syracuse.
