Tanker truck fire closes interstate near Hudson

HUDSON (AP) -- A gasoline tanker truck caught fire early Monday, killing the driver and closing the interstate near Hudson.

The Wisconsin State Patrol says the interstate was closed in both directions near the state border throughout the morning commute. The tanker crossed the median and ignited about 5:30 a.m.

The fire was extinguished about two hours later and eastbound lanes of the interstate were opened about 10 a.m.

The State Patrol says westbound lanes will likely be closed the rest of the day because pavement damaged in the fire needs replacing.
