Iryin Vaughn pleads not guilty to murdering his child's mother

RACINE -- The man accused of murdering his child's mother and prompting an Amber Alert pleaded not guilty Friday. Iryin Vaughn was in court facing charges of first-degree intentional homicide, causing mental harm to a child and bail jumping.

In court Friday, Vaughn entered his plea after giving up his right to a preliminary hearing. That allowed the case to go to trial.

Prosecutors say Vaughn stabbed his girlfriend, Gwynevere Wright, 25 times in the apartment they shared. They say he then took off with their two-year-old daughter. That prompted an Amber Alert. The girl was found unharmed in Illinois.
