Packers sign free agent Jeff Saturday

GREEN BAY -- The Green Bay Packers have signed a big-name veteran free agent, 36-year-old Jeff Saturday.

The five-time Pro Bowl center had been expected to join his longtime Colts teammate Peyton Manning with the Broncos, but after meeting in Green Bay with coach Mike McCarthy last week, Saturday opted to continue his career with the Packers.

Saturday is the same height as recently departed Scott Wells and five pounds lighter, as well as five years older.  However, he is an accomplished player who should not need much time to get up to speed mentally with the Packers' scheme.

In a lesser move, the Packers also signed defensive lineman Daniel Muir on Friday.  He started his career as an undrafted player in Green Bay in 2007 before playing in 40 games for the Colts before being cut this past season.
