Bomb threat investigated at Hartford Union High School

HARTFORD -- Police are investigating the discovery of threats scrawled on a bathroom wall on Wednesday afternoon, April 4th, indicating there was a bomb in Hartford Union High School.

Staff at the high school notified the Hartford Police Department and requested their help searching the school. The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department's Bomb Squad was also called in to assist.

No students or staff were hurt in this incident and no property was damaged.

Anyone with information about the bomb threat is urged to call the Hartford Police Department at 262-673-2600. "People need to understand that this is not a funny joke," Hartford Police Chief David Groves sad.

Police say the investigation is ongoing, and they continue to follow up on leads. Police say there will be repercussions for the individual(s) responsible for not only creating a public safety issue, but wasting resources for both police and the school.

This is the latest in a series of threats found at local schools over the last month. In fact, there have been four separate incidents at four different schools (Kettle Moraine High School, Greendale High School, Franklin High School and Hartford Union High School) over the past month, and very often, the alleged motive is a day off school.

A 17-year-old Franklin student, Ross Menken, is facing a felony charge for allegedly scrawling a bomb threat on the stall in a men's bathroom at the school, closing the school on Friday, March 30th.

Hartford Union High School officials say school will resume Thursday, April 5th at the normal time.
