DNR outlawing outdoor burning in northwestern WI

WISCONSIN -- The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is outlawing outdoor burning in far northwestern Wisconsin.

The areas affected include portions of Douglas, Washburn, Burnett and Polk counties.

Severe storms last summer felled hundreds of thousands of trees across the region, and the DNR is worried any spark may ignite a raging wildfire. That means, people won't be allowed to build campfires, light fireworks or even smoke outside.

The ban begins Friday, April 6th.
