Dispatcher honored for helping nab bank robbers

MILWAUKEE -- A Milwaukee dispatcher was honored for her role in helping nab some bank robbers.

Daphynie Barbee-Matthews said she picked up a call that was made accidentally by the suspects. She said they didn't know it, but they gave her information that she was able to share with officers, who then made the arrests.

Thursday, April 12th was honored with an award from Milwaukee Police Chief Ed Flynn for her work on the case.

"I feel very honored, extremely honored. It feels good, and I think everybody feels the same way - honored for the work that we do here," Barbee-Matthews said.

Barbee-Matthews said she's not the only one being honored this week. It is National Public Safety Telecommunications Week, so her whole department is getting a few perks, such as food while they're at work.
