Fire at St. Francis chemical company forces evacuation

ST. FRANCIS -- A St. Francis chemical company was evacuated after a fire broke out Friday morning, April 13th.

The fire started just before 8:30 a.m. at Fontarome Chemical -- just two blocks southeast of Howard and Clement Avenues.

Fire crews were able to contain the fire to the room where it started. They used foam to snuff the flames.

Investigators say the fire started after oil in a machine overheated and ignited.

Nobody was hurt.
