Juneau police officer injured after squad car struck

DODGE COUNTY -- Juneau Police Officer Brittany Borchardt was injured Saturday, April 21st when the rear of the squad car she was seated in was struck by a Ford Explorer.

It happened just after 11:00 p.m. Saturday night on West Oak Grove Street at South Fairfield avenue.

Officials say the 41-year-old male driver of the Explorer got out of his vehicle after the crash and fled the scene. He was eventually tracked down by a K-9 unit Sunday morning. He was taken into custody and is facing hit and run charges. Three other occupants inside the Explorer at the time were not injured.

The crash remains under investigation by the Dodge County Sheriff's Department and the Dodge County Crash Investigation Team.
