Mayville police respond to call of man with rifle

MAYVILLE -- Mayville police were dispatched to Main St. Friday night just before 10 p.m. for a report of a man carrying a rifle on the street.

Officials were unable to locate the man who one witness described as a male, white, 5'5" tall and weighing around 180 pounds. He was apparently wearing a flannel shirt and carrying a lever-action rifle.

Police interviewed several people in downtown Mayville but located no other witnesses.

There were no reports of shots fired or any disturbance.
