Girl swallowed up by sinkhole on sidewalk in China

XI’AN, China — A teenage girl in China is recovering from a bizarre accident — and it was all caught on camera.

The teen was walking along a sidewalk while making a phone call. Without warning, it appears as though a hole suddenly swallows her up.

A cab driver who witnessed the incident rushed to the hole to find the girl lying prone at the bottom of a 18-foot deep well. The cabbie jumped in the pit to help the girl but both had to be pulled to the surface by firefighters.

The site had long been eroded by underground water, forming a big hole in the middle of the sidewalk.
