Student struck by vehicle near Wadewitz Elementary School

RACINE COUNTY — An elementary student was struck by a vehicle around 8:30 a.m. Thursday, April 26th at the intersection of Yout Street and Arcturus Avenue near Wadewitz Elementary School.

Officials say the 10-year-old boy ran into the street after another group of students had run across Yout Street. A vehicle had slowed for students crossing the street and was driving at about five miles per hour. The boy ran into the side of the slow-moving vehicle and injured his leg.

The boy was transported to the hospital for treatment.

No citations were issued and no criminal charges are expected.
