Four charged with human trafficking, kidnapping in Racine

RACINE -- The Racine County District Attorney's office charged four people Thursday with human trafficking, kidnapping and solicitation of prostitutes. One of those persons was also charged with robbery with use of force.

The defendants in this case are Jonathon Adams of Zion, IL, Dominick Benjamin of Zion, IL, Alvin Edwards of Racine and Latrice Pearson of Racine.

Each of the four is accused of kidnapping an adult woman from her front porch in Zion, Illinois on Sunday, April 8th. They allegedly drove her to Racine and once there, they expected the victim to prostitute herself to pay off debts they were owed.

According to the criminal complaint, the victim told police that Edwards had "advised her that if she didn't comply, he was going to have his girl, Pearson, grab her and fight her. He also told her that they were going to strip her, kill her, and hide her body in the woods."

When the victim was allowed out of the vehicle that was used to drive her to Racine, the victim escaped and flagged down a police officer for help.

If convicted of the charges, each of the suspects faces up to 40 years in prison and $100,000 in fines.
