Religious leaders gather to show support for Brookfield mosque

BROOKFIELD -- Plans for a mosque in Brookfield got a big boost of support this weekend. A group of religious leaders went to the proposed site Saturday, April 28th, saying they want Muslims to have a place to pray in their backyard.

Reverend Jim Stein helped organize an interfaith gathering in Brookfield to give the mosque project a boost.

But not everyone agrees with the idea of building a mosque in the city. Just last week, those opposed to having a mosque constructed spoke their mind at a community meeting.

There will be a neighborhood information meeting on the proposed mosque on May 2nd. A public hearing will then be held on May 7th. Final plans for the mosque will go before the council for a vote on May 15th.
