Julian Rosario charged with killing Luis Perez

MILWAUKEE -- 20-year-old Julian Rosario is charged with first-degree intentional homicide in the death of 21-year-old Luis Perez. Perez was shot multiple times near 5th and Orchard on Milwaukee's south side on the evening of Tuesday, April 24th.

The criminal complaint against Rosario says he was in a car with Alyssa Baumeister, who was breaking up with Perez, who had been her boyfriend.

When the car pulled up at Perez's home on that Tuesday evening, the complaint says Baumeister got out to get her belongings, and Perez arrived home. He then allegedly pulled a small silver handgun, pointed it at Baumeister, pulled the trigger and nothing happened.

At that point, the complaint indicates Rosario jumped out of the car, and "began shooting at Perez and Perez fell down but got back up to his feet and began running away." Rosario allegedly kept firing at Perez -- even after he fell to the ground.

When questioned by police, Rosario said that "he 'blacked out' and only remembered pulling the trigger one time and hearing one gunshot coming from his own gun. He does not recall walking up towards Perez as Perez laid on the ground and pointing the gun at Perez or firing shots at Perez."

If convicted of the charge, Rosario faces up to life in prison.
