According to KnowYourMeme.com, the blog was inspired by a NakedDC article posted on April 30th, 2012 by conservative political consultant Emily Zanotti. After reading a story about Republican congressman Paul Ryan catching fish with his bare hands, Zanotti envisioned him as a Ryan Gosling-esque figure for the Republican party.
