Barrett campaign calls Wednesday "Statewide Day of Action"

WAUKESHA -- After a win in the Democratic recall primary election Tuesday night, Tom Barrett spent the morning Wednesday with the other three candidates on the ballot -- Kathleen Falk, Doug La Follette and Kathleen Vinehout, who pledged their support. Wednesday night, Barrett met with volunteers who are working to ensure Barrett's supporters head to the polls in June.

Barrett met with supporters at his Waukesha headquarters Wednesday night, on what his campaign called his "Statewide Day of Action."

Barrett told volunteers he'll need them to work hard to overcome Walker's fundraising. "To me, this is what gonna defeat Scott Walker`s out-of-state money. He`s raised $25 million. In the last report 60 to 70 percent came from out-of-state but I`ll tell you I`ll take these volunteers any day of the week," Barrett said.

Barrett said he and the other Democratic candidates will now fight together for their shared goal of defeating Scott Walker. "Wisconsin cannot be fixed as long as Scott Walker is governor of this state," Barrett said.

Barrett responded to conservatives who turned out in large numbers Tuesday to support Walker in a non-competitive primary. "Clearly, the Republicans treated this, in terms of getting out their vote, as a general election," Barrett said.

In Waukesha, Barrett said he's looking forward to debates and that he'll spend the next four weeks working to win over any undecided voters while energizing his party's base. "The real test will be who gets their voters out on June 5th," Barrett said.
