11-year-old child hit, killed by car near Keefe and Port Washington Ave.

MILWAUKEE -- An 11-year-old boy was struck and killed by an automobile at Keefe Ave. and Port Washington Road just before 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 16th.

Witnesses say 11-year-old Israel Brown ran out into the road, darting between school buses that were lined up after school when he was struck by a blue Dodge pickup truck. 11-year-old Israel Brown died shortly after being struck.

FOX6 News is told the boy was a fourth-grader at Hope Christian School: Fortis, located across the street from where this incident occurred.

Milwaukee police officials were on the scene, and the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner also responded.

Witnesses say officials were focusing on a blue 1998 Dodge Ram pickup truck that was stopped at the scene. The 41-year-old driver stayed at the scene.

The collision apparently happened in front of a handful of students. Quentin Solomon said he wanted to help the motionless 11-year-old.

There is no word on the speed of the vehicle involved, but police say their investigation in ongoing. "The principal just pulled me back because they didn't want no kids to go into the street," Solomon said.

On Thursday, May 17th  the Medical Examiner's  office will be conducting an autopsy on Israel Brown.
