Airline passenger restrained on Miami flight

MIAMI (CNN) -- A "disoriented" American Airlines passenger was restrained Friday, May 25th after his flight landed safely in Miami, the airline said.

The man stood up from his seat in the main cabin as the plane taxied to the tarmac, refusing to obey the crew's instructions to sit down, American Airlines said in a statement. He "moved toward the front of the aircraft where he was subdued," the statement said.

The man was handed over to Miami-Dade police who were called to Flight 320, which had departed from Montego Bay, Jamaica.

The plane landed 10:12 a.m. ET -- 13 minutes ahead of its scheduled arrival time, though the reason for the early arrival was unclear.

CNN affiliate WSVN reported that the passenger tried to rush the cockpit and was restrained by two other passengers before authorities arrived.
