Vigil to be held for three Bradley Tech students Friday

MILWAUKEE -- Bradley Tech students got out of class early on Friday, May 25th in order to participate in a vigil for three students who died this year.

Friday's vigil gave students a chance to say their final goodbyes to 16-year-old Eddie Ellis Jr., 17-year-old Roderrick Capehart, and 15-year-old Stephanie Romero.

16-year-old Eddie Ellis Jr. was caught in the crossfire of an inter-family feud.

“It started all over Facebook comments. Two girlfriends of my other nephew that’s incarcerated, they got into it. One of them got into fighting, and one of them got beat up and called some other family members, and they came over here to fight again, and the people they brought had guns,” the victim’s uncle, Corey Broady said.

Ellis was shot and killed.

17-year-old Roderrick Capehart was shot and killed during a robbery plot that turned deadly.  According to police, Capeheart and three others planned to buy marijuana from 18-year-old Chasity Lewis and then rob her. During the struggle, Lewis is accused of shooting Capehart.

15-year-old Stephanie Romero was found dead inside a home near 25th and Rogers on the city’s south side on Friday, April 20th. The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner performed an autopsy on the body of Romero. He determined the cause of death as strangulation. However, the autopsy also showed Romero suffered cuts, abrasions and other blunt force injuries.

17-year-old Eduardo Ivanez faces two charges in the death of Stephanie Romero — first-degree intentional homicide and hiding a corpse.
