Test session Tuesday at Milwaukee Mile for IndyFest

MILWAUKEE -- The teams and stars of the IZOD IndyCar Series will be in action Tuesday, May 29th at the Milwaukee Mile in a test session in advance of the Milwaukee IndyFest, Father's Day Weekend - June 15th and 16th.

The full list of teams and drivers is still being finalized following Sunday's running of the Indianapolis 500, but fans can expect to see many of the top names in the sport testing on the one-mile oval.

The grandstand area at the Milwaukee Mile will open from 9 am to 5 pm Tuesday, with concessions available and the IndyFest showcar on display.

Fans will not be able to watch from the infield, which is limited to participants only.

The Wisconsin State Fair Park box office will also be open, selling tickets for Milwaukee IndyFest, June 15 and 16. Tickets can also be purchased online at the official website: http://www.MilwaukeeIndyFest.com.

This will be the first major test session on an one-mile oval for the new DW12 Dallara chassis and the new turbocharged V6 engines from Chevrolet and Honda.

Three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti is also a two-time Milwaukee winner -- first in 2004 and again in last year's race on his way to his fourth IndyCar championship.

"Milwaukee is interesting because it is such a difficult track to get right. It looks fairly simple when you first show up, but when you start getting into the intricacies of it, it's a tough track to race on and get right, but the racing is so good there. It promotes good racing because you can run side-by-side with guys. It is a really good place to have an IndyCar race," Franchitti said.

"(Milwaukee) has a lot of history and I'm glad we're going back there. Michael Andretti and the IZOD IndyCar Series has to be congratulated for making the effort to go back there because the drivers, teams, fans and sponsors all wanted it. We will definitely need the fan support so we can continue to go back there," Franchitti said.
