Waterford man charged with stealing grandmother's jewelry

WATERFORD -- A Waterford man is charged with stealing from his grandparents' home while they were out of town.

According to the criminal complaint in the case, 24-year-old Alan Eder broke into his grandparents' home in Waterford and took up to $25,000 worth of jewelry.

Eder's grandparents had been in Florida for seven months.

Police say Eder confessed to stealing the jewelry. Eder is accused of stealing the following items:

    Police say Eder sold the jewelry to Robert Haack Jewelers in April of 2012.

    Police originally arrested Eder for heroin possession, but he's now charged with theft.

    Police say Eder sold the jewelry to get drugs.
