Bicycle stop leads to arrest of dangerous fugitive

MILWAUKEE — A routine patrol and subject stop conducted by Milwaukee police Tuesday morning, May 29th lead to the arrest of a dangerous fugitive.

Milwaukee police were patrolling in the area of N. 49th Street and Fond du Lac Avenue early Tuesday morning when they spotted a man riding his bicycle illegally. Officers say the man was riding his bicycle on the sidewalk without a light.

When police attempted to stop the subject, he attempted to flee the scene. During the stop, the subject refused to provide his name to officers, but after he was taken into custody he was identified as Maurice D. Clemons.

A wanted check revealed Clemons was wanted by the U.S. Marshals in Michigan for Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution, Homicide.
