Industrial accident in Cudahy lands man in hospital

CUDAHY--- A 57-year-old man is recovering from a head wound at Froedert Hospital after being injured in an industrial accident on Saturday night, June 2nd.

At 5:20 p.m., a 30-pound piece of metal fell from a sign at ATI Ladish Company, hitting the man in the head. He suffered a laceration to his head and an injured shoulder.

Police identified the man as Gordon Zettel of Muskego.

The Cudahy Fire Department and Cudahy Police Department responded to the accident along with the South Milwaukee Fire Department. Flight for Life was then called and transported the man to Froedtert Hospital.

"He was conscious and breathing, alert on arrival and he was transported," Melissa Maker with the Cudahy Police Department said.

Police did not know what caused the metal to fall Saturday night.

"That’s under investigation right now. I’m not sure if we’re going to do the investigation or if Ladish Company is doing the investigation at this time," Maker said.
