Normalcy slowly returning after house explosion

GLENDALE -- The Glendale neighborhood where a house exploded on May 25th is slowly returning to normal.

"We're getting back to normal. It's becoming more calm. It's still surreal to see it there, but it's slowly getting back to normal," Patricia Ormsby said.

"I feel like it's getting better. When it first happened, I had trouble sleeping, and it was pretty scary, but now I think it's better," Max Wilson added.

Both Wilson and Ormsby live near the lot that is now just rubble after the explosion decimated the house that was there. In the explosion, two people were injured, including the 88-year-old homeowner Marvin Engler. Engler died days later. The condition of Engler's close friend who lived in the home was not known as of Saturday, June 2nd.

"It makes it a lot more real. It adds more of a significance to it," Wilson said.

While the last week has been a strange one for neighbors in the area, they say that the people coming through their neighborhood to look at the lot has slowed down.

"It still is surreal. There's a lot of people out observing. It's kind of become like a tourist area now and it's weird," Wilson said.
