MPD traffic stops lead to arrests for weapons, drugs
MILWAUKEE -- Two Milwaukee police Neighborhood Task Force Officers got some criminals off the streets during recent traffic stops.
On Thursday, May 24, at 11:45 p.m., Officers John Schott and Chris Navarrette made a traffic stop for a seat belt violation in the 3000 block of N. 27th St.
In plain view, the officers observed a black semi-auto pistol on the floorboard in between the subject’s feet.
The 22-year-old suspect was arrested for Carrying a Concealed Weapon – Gun.
On Monday, May 28, Officers Schott and Navarrette attempted to conduct a traffic stop of vehicle at 13th & Atkinson at 12:15 p.m.
At that time, the suspect put the vehicle in reverse and drove backwards for a number of blocks until it crashed into a tree in front of 3149 N. 13th Street.
After the crash, the subject was attempting to discard a gun and a bag of crack cocaine.
Officers were able to take him into custody for Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Possession of Cocaine With Intent To Deliver.
Two other MPD officers arrested a 34-year-old man for Carrying a Concealed Weapon - Gun and Possession of a Controlled Substance during a traffic stop.
The officers stopped the suspect for a seat belt violation in the 3900 block of N. 26th St.
Officers smelled burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle.
During a consent search, officers located marijuana and a pistol concealed under the dashboard of the vehicle.The officers arrested the suspect.
