Brewers take C Coulter, OF Roache in MLB draft
MILWAUKEE (AP) — The Milwaukee Brewers selected catcher Clint Coulter and outfielder Victor Roache in the first round of Major League Baseball’s first-year player draft.
The Brewers took Coulter out of Union High School in Camas, Wash. with the No. 27 overall pick, which the Brewers obtained from Detroit after Prince Fielder signing with the Tigers as a free agent.
Milwaukee then took Roache out of Georgia Southern with the No. 28 overall pick. Roache led college baseball with 30 home runs as a sophomore, but is coming off a broken left wrist in February. He originally was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in 2009.
The Brewers also have the No. 38 overall selection, a compensatory first-round pick awarded to Milwaukee after the Fielder signing.
