Family, friends remember man killed after Glendale house explosion

GLENDALE -- Family and friends gathered Thursday, June 7th to pay their respects to 88-year-old Marvin Engler, the Glendale man killed after being injured when his home exploded on Saturday, May 26th. Engler was taken to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries days later.

A visitation and funeral service were held at Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home on Port Washington Road in Mequon.

Engler's obituary says he was a veteran of WWII who owned many businesses throughout his life. He had a love for horses and other animals, loved music and was a true outdoorsman, enjoying flying, hunting and fishing.

Engler's live-in companion, Shigeko Brooks, also injured in the explosion is expected to recover.
