Two critically hurt in Mount Pleasant motorcycle accident

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Two people were injured after a motorcycle crash in Mount Pleasant that occurred around 2:30 Saturday on Highway H near Prairie View Dr.

A 55-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman remain in critical condition at Froedtert Hospital as of Sunday, June 10th.

FOX6's media partners at the Mount Pleasant Patch have identified the victims as Randy Bahrs and Jayne Ochoa from Kenosha County.

Investigators say somehow, Bahrs, who was driving the motorcycle, lost control of it, and the bike went off the road and flipped into the ditch.

Bahrs and Ochoa were taken by Flight for Life to Froedtert Hospital.

"Both had significant head trauma -- most likely life-threatening injuries. Neither one was wearing a helmet," Mount Pleasant Police Sgt. Paul Maccari said.

As traffic crews reconstructed the scene, Theresa Novak watched from her yard.  Earlier, Novak watched as emergency responders tried to save the man and woman.  She says Bahr wasn't moving.

Police are investigating what caused the motorcycle to flip, but Novak has her own theory.  She thinks the bike may have gone into the fresh gravel along the county road and slipped.

Officials say this accident remains under investigation.

The incident is the latest in a string of recent motorcycle accidents.  Two motorcyclists recently died after a car crossed a center lane in Fond du Lac County -- striking 10 bikes.  Before that, a 20-year-old motorcyclist was killed near Bayshore Town Center, when it's believed he lost control.
