Fond du Lac Co. judge binds Clinton Lovelace over for trial

FOND DU LAC -- 25-year-old Clinton Lovelace will face trial for allegedly slamming his car into a pack of motorcycles, killing two riders and injuring more.

Investigators say back on May 31st, Lovelace was driving south on Highway 151 in Fond du Lac County when he crossed the center line and slammed into a pack of motorcyclists from Michigan, heading in the opposite direction.

Two of the bikers died from their injuries and two more remain hospitalized.

In court Friday, June 15th, three officers took the stand in Lovelace's preliminary hearing. They say while Lovelace was still hospitalized, they recovered unused syringes in his pants pocket -- along with cut corners of plastic bags. Officers say those items appeared to be used for hits of acid.

Dozens of bikers were also at the courthouse Friday. They were there to show support for the victims of the crash -- and all bikers who have faced danger on the road.

"One thing about bikers -- You hit one -- we stand as a community and we take this offense very seriously," biker Tim Tomann said.

Right now, Lovelace faces one count of second degree reckless homicide, three counts of second degree reckless injury, one count of second degree recklessly endangering safety, and one count of felony bail jumping. Those charges are expected to be amended since another biker has died. Prosecutors are also awaiting toxicology reports to finalize the charges.

If convicted on all counts right now, Lovelace could face more then 90 years in prison and $285,000 in fines.
