Unique flip-book art near Lakefront Festival of Arts

MILWAUKEE -- Sometimes you can find beauty in a place you'd least expect it -- like a light post. That's exactly where the thousands of art-lovers already near the Milwaukee Art Museum for the Lakefront Festival of Arts found -- if they had their eyes and ears open.

A flip-book style display of public art can be found on five light posts, not far from the museum, near the parking spots on Wisconsin Avenue right before it becomes Prospect Avenue.

They are the work of public display artists Janet Zweig, who was commissioned by the City of Milwaukee and the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation, to create mini-sidewalk stories.

The cast and crew featured in the flip-books are mostly from Milwaukee and the ideas featured in the short sidewalk skits were solicited from local art fans.

The exhibit was installed in August of last year.
