Emerald ash borer beetle collected in Mukwonago

MUKWONAGO -- State officials say an emerald ash borer beetle was collected from a tree in the Village of Mukwonago Tuesday, June 19th. The tree was located near State Hwy. 83 and County Hwy. NN.

An arborist working for the village notified state officials of the beetle and possible infestation.

The beetle was send to federal identifiers that day and confirmed on Wednesday.

Residents of Mukwonago and Waukesha County in general (and any other known infested county) should contact a certified arborist or other tree care professional for help in determining if their ash tree is at risk and a course of action to undertake if warranted.

The tree-killing emerald ash borer has now been discovered in 11 Wisconsin counties: Brown, Crawford, Kenosha, La Crosse, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Vernon, Walworth, Washington, and Waukesha.
