Tammy Baldwin launches first TV ad in Senate race

MADISON (AP) -- Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Tammy Baldwin has launched her first television ad of the campaign the day after a poll showed her trailing Republican Tommy Thompson.

That same Marquette University Law School poll showed her tied with Republican candidate Mark Neumann and ahead of two other Republicans in the race, Eric Hovde and Jeff Fitzgerald.

The poll showed Baldwin down 8 points to Thompson with a 4.1 percentage point margin of error.

Baldwin's ad released Thursday, June 21st statewide doesn't mention any of the Republican candidates and instead highlights Baldwin's work to crack down on China's trade practices affecting Wisconsin's manufacturing and paper industry.

Baldwin is the only Democrat in the race.

Both Thompson and Hovde are already running TV ads, but Neumann and Fitzgerald have yet to go on the air.
