Suspect sought in four sexual assaults in Bay View

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police are asking for the public's help in their search for a sexual assault suspect in the city's Bay View neighborhood.

There have been four reported sexual assaults in Bay View since February 23, 2012.

The assaults occurred at 2120 E. Rusk,. 517 E. Linus, 2521 S. Howell Ave., and 3029 S. Superior St.

The suspect wanted in connection with these assaults is described as a white man, 20-35 years old, between 5'6" and 5'11" tall. He's described as having a thin to stocky build with dark hair. He may wear a cap as shown in the sketch.

Charles Cutsforth with Mr. P's Tires near S. KK in Bay View spoke with police and shared surveillance video after an assault in the alley near the business. Cutsforth said he isn't sure police would be able to see much from the video at night.

Erin Brady lives near Superior, where one of the assaults occurred.

"This definitely has everyone on heightened alert till someone's caught. It's always had a reputation of being safe. I don't really think it can be classified as an isolated situation anymore because were on incident number four," Brady said.

Brady said she received information handed out by Milwaukee police.

"The comments on the flyers say he whispers something in their ears and then touches them at that point. What we've heard verbally is he's made threats to the individual to not scream," Brady said.

If you see someone loitering in the area for no apparent reason -- and that person matches the description and the sketch in this story, you're urged to call Milwaukee police.

"Hopefully this person can be caught and dealt with in the appropriate way before they get to the next person," Brady said.
