CUDAHY — Cudahy police officials say a man was struck by a vehicle at the end of the Cudahy Fourth of July Parade, just before 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Officials say the incident occurred on S. Lake Drive, between E. Van Norman Avenue and E. Armour Avenue.

A man with the VFW was driving a vehicle in the parade behind members of the VFW who were walking in the parade, when the driver suffered some sort of medical emergency (possibly heat stroke) and lost consciousness, accelerating into the group of VFW marchers, striking one member.

The VFW group was stationed in front of the Cudahy Fire Department in the parade. Fire officials witnessed the accident and immediately began treating both victims.

Mutual aid was requested, and Flight for Life was called to the scene, but was eventually cancelled.

The driver of the vehicle was transported to St. Luke’s South Shore, and the victim struck was taken to Froedtert Hospital.

The condition of both victims is unknown at this time. There were no other injuries.

Cudahy police say their investigation into this incident is ongoing.
