Father leaves three children in car during record-high heat

GREEN BAY --  Officials say three small children were left inside a locked vehicle outside a target store near Bellevue Thursday, July 5th by their father.

Authorities say a passerby heard one of the children crying and notified police.

Police say when they arrived on the scene they found an infant and two toddlers in the back of the car, in car seats. Authorities say the vehicle was not running, but the windows were cracked open about an inch.

Police say the children, ranging in age from 4 months to two-and-half years old, were locked in the hot vehicle for nearly 13 minutes.

The father, a 28-year-old Bellevue man, was arrested on three misdemeanor child neglect charges.

Authorities say the children were released to their mother after being check out at the hospital.

The case if being referred to Child Protective Services.
