Child killed during domestic incident in Fitchburg

FITCHBURG (AP) -- Fitchburg police say a confrontation between an estranged couple ended in the death of their two-year-old son.

The 30-year-old suspect remains jailed Tuesday, July 10th on suspicion of first-degree intentional homicide and attempted first-degree homicide.

The Dane County Medical Examiner's Office says the two-year-old died from "major blunt force trauma caused by a motor vehicle.''

The woman and her son were passengers in a car Monday when she noticed the suspect following them in an SUV. She asked her driver to pull into a parking lot.

Police say the woman and child got out when they believed the suspect was leaving. Instead, police say, he deliberately drove toward and struck both of them. He then allegedly got out and attacked the woman and her driver.
