Police release name in connection with body found in Kenosha

KENOSHA -- Kenosha police have released a name in connection with the body found at Nedweski Park in Kenosha earlier this week. While police say positive identification has not been made, evidence collected at the scene leads them to believe the individual is 20-year-old Lashe Zalar of Kenosha.

Police are conducting DNA testing in order to make a positive identification.

Police say the initial autopsy conducted Tuesday, July 10th did not provide the manner or cause of death. Toxicology reports are pending.

Police say this remains a "death investigation" versus a homicide at this point in time.

Zalar's friends say she had been missing since Monday, July 9th -- the same day the body was discovered when fire crews arrived to battle a brush fire. A Facebook page was set up for Zalar.

Police say they will continue to secure the area of Nedweski Park until they are confident there is no longer a need to do so.

Police are asking anyone with information on Lashe or her whereabouts is asked to contact Detective Josh Hecker directly at 262-605-5264.

The Kenosha Police Department is continuing to ask anyone who was in the area of Nedweski Park during the morning hours of July 9, 2012 and observed any activity to please call Kenosha Area Crime Stoppers at 262-656-7333, the Kenosha Police Department Detective Bureau at 262-605-5203 or Detective Josh Hecker at 262-605-5264.
