Last-minute preparations made for Waukesha County Fair

WAUKESHA -- With the extreme heat and heat advisory, then high wind gusts and finally, falling temperatures, Tuesday, July 17th wasn't the best day to set up for a county fair! The Waukesha County Fair begins Wednesday, and crews were busy Tuesday making last-minute preparations.

Waukesha County Fair Executive Director Shari Black hopes 2012 will be a good year for the fair, as they've been negatively impacted by Mother Nature in year's past.

On Tuesday, crews arrived at the fairgrounds as early as 5:00 a.m., in an attempt to beat the heat.

"People started working earlier today to get their work done before it got too warm, and they really made sure they were drinking a lot of water," Black said.

New to the fair this year are some of the rarest and largest cats in the world -- the biggest tiger weighing 600 pounds!

Terry Frisco will be interacting with his tigers and performing tricks up close and personal.

"They're going to hop, they're going to jump and they're going to turn on spindles. We're going to pet them and ride on them. The kids and adults alike can get up close -- like 10 feet away, and be able to view them all day long," Frisco said.

The Waukesha County Fair begins Wednesday, July 18th at 3:00 p.m. The special for opening day includes $2 for admission and parking, and rides for $1.25.
