Eric Glass sentenced to 90 days in House of Correction

MILWAUKEE -- A Milwaukee County judge sentenced Eric Glass to 90 days in the House of Correction Wednesday morning, July 25th. Glass is the Germantown High School teacher accused of having sex with a 17-year-old student back in April.

The charges against Glass stem from three separate incidents in which Glass allegedly had sexual contact with the victim at his residence. At first, Glass faced three separate assault charges. One of the charges was dropped after the victim indicated she and Glass did not have sex a third time.

In court Wednesday, Glass told the judge he was sorry for his actions.

"I know what I did was wrong. I accept full responsibility being the adult in this situation, and am tremendously sorry to so many people that I have let down, but most importantly her and her family," Glass said.

The victim and her family agreed to plea negotiations.  That meant a lighter sentence. In a letter, they agreed felony charges were too harsh.

"Placing the mark of a felony is not something the victim and her family wish to place on the defendant," the District Attorney said in court Wednesday.

Glass pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges of sex with a child, and sexual assault.

"I know that I will hold on to this feeling knowing that I have caused somebody else and somebody else's family pain," Glass said.

Glass must begin his sentence on August 1st. He was granted Huber privileges for work. He will not be on the sex offender registry.

Glass is no longer a teacher, and is instead serving as a roofer.
