North Shore firefighters battle garage fire

MILWAUKEE -- The North Shore Fire Department responded to a fully-engulfed garage fire early Wednesday morning, July 25th on Berwyn Avenue in Glendale.

Officials say the fire broke out in a garage around 4 a.m. and began spreading to the attached building.  Authorities say the attached building is a community-based residential facility, which means it's a house for the elderly and disabled.

Authorities say one worker and three residents were inside the building when the fire broke out. Officials say they made it out safely,  but the fire forced them to be relocated to a different home in Mequon.

Fire officials say the fire resulted in extensive damage to the garage and moderate damage to the house -- resulting in $50,000  in damage to the property and $40,000 to contents.

The cause of the fire is unknown and remains under investigation by the North Shore Fire Department.
