Fond du Lac emergency services memorial vandalized

FOND DU LAC -- A Fond du Lac memorial dedicated to emergency services personnel who died in the line of duty has been vandalized.

Police say the 900-pound granite memorial was knocked off its base and firefighters' tablet has been damaged.

Police say the memorial is somewhat of a sacred place for public safety, especially law enforcement which lost three officers - most recently, Craig Birkholz.

The memorial is now in Milwaukee for repairs. Repairs could total $500 to $1,000.

Fond du Lac Memorials is offering a $100 reward for information in the case.
