Woman arrested for allegedly driving drunk with six children

WAUKESHA CO. -- The Wisconsin State Patrol arrested a Greendale woman for allegedly driving drunk with six children in her vehicle. She's identified as 39-year-old Shelly Butler.

A trooper stopped Butler for speeding, deviation from her lane and nearly striking a vehicle
in the adjacent lane. Once pulled over, the trooper smelled a strong odor of intoxicants. In the vehicle, the trooper also noticed six children. Two of the children were lying on the floor, underneath the legs of the other children. Another adult came to the scene and removed the children.

The trooper administered a field sobriety test and Butler was arrested for suspicion of Operating While Intoxicated -- first offense, with minor children in the vehicle.

Butler was taken to Waukesha Memorial for a legal blood draw and later released.

A criminal charge was issued and forwarded to the Waukesha County District Attorney.
