Long lines at fundraiser for children who lost parents in motorcycle crash

GERMANTOWN -- The first of at least three fundraisers planned to benefit three children left behind after both of their parents were killed following a motorcycle crash in Slinger was held Tuesday, July 31st. Hundreds, if not thousands flocked to Robert's Frozen Custard in Germantown, where 100% of profits were donated to benefit Robert and Becki Lubow's three children.

Robert's Frozen Custard opened at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, and already there were phone orders of $100 each -- and demand continued as the day went on.

Robert and Becki Lubow were killed after they lost control of their motorcycle outside of Slinger. The couple did not have life insurance. Darren Stamm, owner of Robert's Frozen Custard will hand over every penny made Tuesday directly to 17-year-old Lauren, 13-year-old Lukas and six-year-old Mya.

"I'm thrilled! We'll deal with whatever residual issues we have tomorrow. Today is a great day," Stamm said.

Becki Lubow's mother said through this tragedy, she has learned her family has an extended family -- a community that's itching to help.

Robert Lubow's sister said she's not as surprised by the community support.

"They were loved by so many people. I knew there would be so many people supporting them and their kids. It's just amazing what people are willing to do," Carrie Lubow said.

Two other fundraisers are planned at Fat Charlie's restaurant in Richfield on August 11th, and Sept. 8th at Wisconsin Harley-Davidson in Oconomowoc.
