19-year-old woman dies after she was shot in head in Racine

RACINE -- Racine police confirmed Thursday, August 2nd 19-year-old Faith Harrison has died. Harrison was shot in the head while on a porch on Packard Ave. in Racine on Tuesday night.

Racine emergency responders took Harrison to Wheaton-Franciscan All Saints Emergency Room. She was then flown by Flight for Life to Froedtert Hospital.

There are no suspects in custody at this time.

Yvonne Klyze lives in the home and says in 44 years, she's never had anything like this happen.

"It was just a foolish act of someone killing someone for no reason," Klyze said.

Klyze said Harrison wanted to go for a motorcycle ride. Klyze said she was outside moments before Harrison was wounded by gunfire. Klyze said she doesn't know Harrison, but her nephews were talking to her moments before she was shot.

"My nephew took her on a ride on the bike, and as he was coming back, my nephew went to put his bike in the garage. She was sitting on my porch," Klyze said.

Racine Police Sergeant Martin Pavilonis says it doesn't appear Harrison was the target of the shooting, but no one else on or near the porch was hit or injured.

"At this point, it's a little too early to tell the motivation for this crime," Sgt. Pavilonis said.

Klyze says she can only speculate why nobody else was hit by bullets.

"For her to be on my porch just sitting down, relaxing, whomever shot her, they must've knew what they were doing," Klyze said.
